Coronavirus Update March 13, 2020
All Members
Supporting the health and well-being of our JCo community is, as always, our top priority. Currently the CDC, WHO, Johns Hopkins and San Diego County Health Department are strongly encouraging cancellations/postponements of gatherings of groups of 50 or more and are asking those with compromised health to take extra precautions.
To be clear, at this time we are not aware of anyone within our community that has been diagnosed with COVID-19, however with our main goal focused on the safety and health of our community we felt it prudent at this time to cease ALL in-person activities at JCo for the next 2 weeks.
During this time the building will be closed, however, Services, Cohort and Committee meetings can and will continue remotely. We recognize the comfort that community brings, especially at times like this, and want to ensure everyone can continue to connect and receive guidance and any needed support. We will continue to send out JCo’s weekly newsletters notifying members of all events and how to access them. Some events will occur over our established call-in number and others via Facebook Live.
In the spirit of JCo, we have already received the most wonderful and generous phone calls from members wishing to assist those in our JCo family who may be in need of special help with things such as groceries, pharmacy runs or computer help. For anyone in need, as well as for those who are not sick but opting to “hunker down” or “self-quarantine”, please contact Corey Meitchik at 908-612-2192 cdm1968@aol.com or Rabbi Gabi 646-281-6242, cantrgabiarad@gmail.com so we can coordinate assistance.
It is times like this that the strength of our community shines just a bit brighter. We continue to be here for one another and will continue to approach this situation pragmatically, with dignity and love.
