Blake’s Naming Ceremony

In Jewish tradition, children receive a Hebrew name on the 8th day after they are born. It’s a beautiful tradition but it’s not inclusive of kids who discover that their identity doesn’t align with their name. Particularly transgender kids. As progressive Jews we have to make sure we are inclusive in all our traditions even if it means creating new ones.
On June 25th, Blake (Rabbi Gabi’s son) will be named again, this time with a name that HE chose and aligns with who he truly is.
