Omer Day 16

“May God support them on the couch of their disease,

In the face of their illness You have overturned their every bed.”

Inspiration

Some of you have asked me how I decide on a psalm every day. The truth is, I try to get a feel for the message that is called for and then I find a psalm that speaks the words to match.

I have to admit that when I first saw the word “disease” in this psalm I didn’t think that it would fit the message I wanted to get across. Upon further investigation, it couldn’t have been more perfect.

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word disease as a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms.

We are in a time of healing. On so many levels. We have been stripped away from all the essentials that we thought were essential and are left looking at ourselves face to face. We have discovered things about ourselves that were hidden. We have noticed the parts of ourselves that impair our whole. Perhaps you realized that you were more of an introvert than you thought. Or perhaps you realized that you were dependent on people and places for your joy. We have come face to face with sadness, anger, anxiety, fear, and some of us have been triggered in ways we didn’t know existed.

Whatever you are facing, know that it is all part of the healing process and have faith that you are being given the opportunity to heal. Don’t let it go to waste. Face whatever it is you need to face. You have been given the time to do so. Reach out for help. Look within yourself. Reflect, rejuvenate, renew. Be curious, process, search and research. As with everything we are handed, we have the choice to receive it as a curse or receive it as a blessing. My hope is that we all see the blessing in the opportunity we have been given to heal.

“Heal us, O God, and we shall be healed; save us and we shall be saved, for You indeed are our praise. Lift us up and heal the wounds of our body and spirit, for You are the almighty Ruler and You are the faithful and merciful healer. Blessed are You, O God, who heals the sick of Your People Israel.”

Love you all and I’m here to process if you need,

Gabi
